Buckskins
Most of Casey's foals should be buckskin not dun. If a foal of
Casey's is dun, the dun factor would have been contributed by the mare.
Casey is a true buckskin (a bay with a creme gene).

 |
Palominos A Palomino is a chestnut or sorrel with a creme gene.
Since Casey is not homozygous black he can sire chestnuts, sorrels, and
palominos.

Cremello
Casey has only sired one cremello. A cremello is
a chestnut or sorrel that has two copies of the creme gene, one from the
dam and one from the sire.
Unless your mare is a palomino, buckskin, smokey
black, cremello, or a perlino you won't get a cremello or a perlino.
A perlino is a bay that has received two copies of the creme gene.
It will have the same body color as a cremello, but it's mane will be
peach instead of white. |

Smokey Black
A black foal that has one copy of the creme gene is a
smokey black. Sometimes it is hard to tell if you have a black or
a smokey black unless you have it tested. |
|
 |
 |
Black
Casey has several black foals, but it is a color that
is sometimes hard to tell at birth. People sometime think they
have a grulla, but when they shed out as yearlings they are jet black.
Casey shouldn't sire a grulla unless the dam carries the dun gene. |
|
 |
 |
Bay or Brown
Since Casey is a bay underneath that creme gene he
also sires them. He only possesses one bay agouti, so he also
sires black foals. |
|
 |
 |
Chestnut or Sorrel As Casey is not homozygous black he can also
sire chestnut and sorrel foals. This happens when he passes his
red gene instead of his black gene to the foal. The dam must also
possess the red gene as it takes two red genes to make a red foal. |
|
 |
 |
Grays & Roans Casey will only sire gray and roan foals when the
mare is a gray or roan. I look at it like frosting on a cake.
They are born a base color, but can be gray or roan if the mother passes
on her genetics. |
 |
 |
Paints
When bred to a colored Paint mare, Casey usually allows the color to
come out. |
